Airpods disconnecting immediately

I have a question. My phone is running oxygen os 16 and at first it worked perfectly and I was really happy but after a while as soon as I tried to connect my airpods again they disconnected immediately. I've reset my phone and cleared all data for Bluetooth etc. but the fix is only temporary. Does anyone know how to fix this and if this will happen in the may/June update where you don't need a rooted device to use librepods?
