How can I update the syncthing binary?

I set keep syncthing binary up to date, but got a permission error.

I then tried changing the binary location, but that somehow doesn't work either? I have the latest binary in a specific folder, and pointed Syncthing GTK to it, but it still shows the old version.

Is this possible?

alternative question, what is the default location of the syncthing binary that Syncthing GTK opens?

seems it's /var/lib/flatpak/app/me.kozec.syncthingtk/x86_64/stable/active/files/bin/

which is not editable in Steam OS.

Is this really just not possible?
