Whole books have been written on the subject, but I was missing clear, concise explanations of all voice parameters and how they impact the sound. Hence I've started this wiki page:

The Pitch Envelope Generator is different from the Operator Envelope Generator. Level 4 is the initial level.

I wasn't sure what the correct image would be when I searched the internet. Obviously we would need the correct diagram(s) to match the wording in the wiki for Minidexed.

Edit: I just realised that you were probably responding to probonopd's original message and not my diagram suggestion. In any case, I think diagrams make it easier to understand the concepts.
