Surge XT Effects VST3 not recalling parameters between sessions in Renoise

The plugin is always reset to the Delay effect and all parameters are reset when reloading a project file, forcing me to record the audio in order not to lose progress.

Surge XT Effects 1.3.4 64-bit VST3
Renoise 3.5.4 64-bit
GNU/Linux Debian 13 (Trixie) / KDE Plasma

How to reproduce:
01: Insert Surge XT Effects VST3 on any channel
02: Change effect type to, let's say, Vocoder.
03: Alter parameters.
04: Save module (.xrns)
05: Reload the module (close Renoise / reopen module)
06: Open the Surge XT Effects instance and inspect parameters

I expect the plugin to recall parameters between sessions, otherwise it isn't usable, especially when many instances are present.

Hello and thanks for the report! Tagging as Linux since we haven't heard of this happening elsewhere.

I'm guessing this is Renoise doing the get/set state procedure on startup differently than other hosts, but hard to say for sure. Remind me again, is Renoise Linux only or are there Mac/Win builds available? This seems like it'd be hard to test without running in the host in question.

I've had some problems with renoise and vst3 with air win but nothing like this. Lemme peek this weekend.

Just checked

with 3.5.2 on my mac I loaded the XT effects set it to chorus, changed params, saved, quit, restarted renoise, loaded, and it was fine.

So need to poke more.

Can you upload a renoise session (ideally small) with an XT effects which doesn't restore for you @subtractor303 ? (you may need to zip it to attach it to GitHub)

Even weirder than that. It recalls just fine if I hit play before opening the plugin UI, but it doesn't recall if I open the UI immediately after reopening the project. Very odd.

Sounds like something is letting the defaults override the engine when theUI opens

will see if I can repro here on mac in other hosts.

I'm having a similar issue with 1.3.4 on Ardour 9.0 (will edit this once I've reproduced with 9.2), with the Surge XT plugin (rather than effects).

My existing projects with the LV2 version load with Init Saw, a few instances where I used VST3 by mistake the existing settings loaded fine. The LV2 version loads fine if I install 1.2.3 (I have not tried earlier patch versions of 1.3)
